7 is the Lucky Number for Lotus Domino |
| |
The blokes at IBM have always had a passion for technology. They're innovators of the first order, which means they're never satisfied. No matter how good a product is, they won't stop until they make it even better. The release of Lotus Domino 7 proves this again. Version 6.5, released in 2003, already offered great collaboration and productivity tools. Integrated instant messaging, expanded Calendar, Scheduling, and mail functionalities all contributed to the robust software. Lotus Domino 7 sets new benchmarks for security, performance, and interoperability. |

Businesses continue to be plagued by spam. Domino's spam-fighting is even tougher than before with the addition of new security features. Among these is the use of Domain Name Systems whitelists. These lists provide more data about legitimate sources of email. Upgrades to Lotus Notes ID management also aids in keeping spam out of your mailbox. A status bar icon alerts recipients as to whether email was encrypted, digitally signed, or both. Secure email stays that way with new security APIs (application programming interfaces). Users now have new encryption options, all designed to keep sensitive information more secure. |

Lotus Domino 7 is exceeding expectations with fantastic performance. Research shows this software will support up to a whopping 80 percent more Lotus Notes users, or up to 50 percent more Lotus Domino Web Access users. All this with no changes to the server hardware! Version 7 does all this while using up to 25 percent fewer CPU resources than in the past. Another great improvement is that Domino now has self-healing server technology. Before, Domino identified activity trends so that network administrators could resolve any bottlenecks before performance could be affected. In Version 7, Domino not only sees trouble spots, but comes up with a fix and applies it. |

The ability to manage meeting rooms and meeting resources has always been a popular feature in this software. Upgrades to the centralized rooms and resources database mean no more overbooking, and improved efficiency surrounding room and equipment availability. The use of the calendar and scheduling functions is now easier with uncomplicated templates. Administrators can now designate an end date for reservations. Reminder notices can be customized for meetings or events that occur on a daily or weekly basis. |
| |
With the advent of open architecture, it's more important than ever for enterprise software to function fluidly with other systems or products. Lotus Domino 7 features enhanced interoperability. For starters, this comes in the form of more support for Linux. End-to-end messaging and collaboration tools can now be utilized with seamless integration. For firms using Microsoft® .NET or J2EE , Version 7 will support these Web services, plus helping with application integration. Improved interoperability extends to the IBM Workplace family of business tools, such as IBM WebSphere Portal. The server administration tools in Domino 7 now support DB2 databases, as well. |
| |
Lotus Domino 7 is the enterprise software of choice for companies determined to meet the demands of a fast-paced business environment. With its superior security, maximized performance, and out-of-the-box interoperability, Lotus Domino 7 has what people with a passion for business need to succeed. |
