Remote Access with Lotus Sametime |
| |
Research compiled by the Mobile Data Association shows that business people in the UK are embracing mobile messaging in record numbers. The results of the survey, conducted in late 2005, revealed that firms with 11 to 50 employees had the most mobile messages sent. 36% of those users were categorized as heavy messaging users, sending more than 21 work related mobile messages a week. Respondents said that this technology saved them time and money. Larger companies, with up to 250 employees, are also using messaging. They indicated that it was a preferred way to supply both colleagues and customers with information about products or services. No matter what type of enterprise you own, messaging capability is a must-have for maximum efficiency. The industry leader for this software is Lotus Sametime. Here's why… |

In terms of interoperability, Sametime users can exchange messages with users on other instant messaging services, such as AOL AIM, ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, and Apple iChat. Sametime can now also be integrated with Microsoft Outlook, Office and SharePoint applications. Microsoft users have quick access to a full set of instant messaging and Web conferencing capabilities, without requiring costly upgrades. Within Microsoft word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications, Lotus Sametime customers will be able to utilize electronic communication features. They can send an instant message, initiate a call, share an application, or launch a Web conference. From Microsoft email inboxes, users will see online presence information. They can also schedule Web conferences from their calendar. So you don't have to slow down, Sametime has direct connectivity to RIM, Nokia, and Microsoft Windows Mobile devices. |
| |
Gives you that secure feeling. |
| |
Sametime was always designed to be enterprise software. So it is loaded with the type of security businesses need, such as authentication. Anyone using Sametime is authenticated against the corporate directory. No surprises about who is actually at the other end. Sametime also encrypts chat, which means an unauthorized person can't read it. To make regulatory compliance easier, complete IM conversation logs may be stored. Plus, control over chat on public IM networks can be server-based, and a log of these network interactions kept. |
| |
Proprietors of SMEs interested in increasing productivity and profitability would be well served to investigate how messaging capabilities can help make that happen. Lotus Sametime, with its cutting edge features, wide-ranging interoperability, and heavy duty security is a perfect partner for any business moving forward. |
